Lafayette Street Extension Project

The Lafayette Street Extension Project involves extending Lafayette Street in Norristown to the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The project is a major effort to improve highway access to downtown Norristown and its riverfront. This project is being headed by the Montgomery County Planning Commission in association with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration. Learn more about the project at the Montgomery County Website.

Foot & Bicycle Travel

Norristown boasts architecturally rich, easily walk-able communities and business districts that make our community especially friendly to pedestrians and bicyclists. We are also a stop on the Schuylkill Valley bike trail, which stretches from Philadelphia to Valley Forge and beyond. This trail is the backbone for trails across our region, and allows bikers and pedestrians to get to almost anywhere in the region on dedicated trails right from downtown Norristown.
